Chicago's Erik R. Sosa Unveils Latest Exhibition

Chicago, IL - Erik R. Sosa unveiled his latest exhibition of new paintings on July 21 at Big City Swing Studio. “GROOVE is in the heART,” attracted over 250 guests who were unanimous in their praise of Sosa’s work.

Sosa choose the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) as the opening night beneficiary of his latest exhibit. Through his generous donation of artwork for a raffle and silent auction, combined with the suggested $5 donation at the door, Sosa presented AFC with a check for more than $1,700. “I feel that my talent is a gift that should be shared. I’m thrilled to have been able to help the AIDS Foundation of Chicago with this donation” said Sosa.

“GROOVE is in the heART” is a kaleidoscope of paintings, ranging in form and style. His work has been compared to Kandiski, Harring and Pollock but Sosa’s new exhibition showcases his own unique style.

The exhibition will run through August 20, 2005. Call Big City Swing Studio at (312) 243-0700 for available hours.

Sosa is a self-taught Mexican-American artist, born in Mexico City and a Chicago resident since 1980. He currently resides in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Sosa was recently named as the 2005 award winner of the VOX/Out Emerging Artist of the year.
