Academy reportedly concerned over choice for host
Veteran members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have grown concerned over the choice of Chris Rock as host of this month's Oscars, according to an exclusive story posted Sunday on The Drudge Report.
Matt Drudge reports that concern deepened after Rock claimed only gays watch the Oscars.
The 40-year-old comedian told Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I never watched the Oscars. Come on, it's a fashion show."
Rock went on to add, "What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one!"
According to Drudge, Academy members have privately called for Chris Rock to be removed as host of the live telecast.
Sources at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences deny Chris Rock is out as host of the Oscars telecast, Daily Variety said Monday.
The Academy Awards ceremony will be televised live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, February 27.
