Cher has announced that she will bring her Farewell Tour back to North America this summer and has added Springfield to her itinerary.
The pop diva will bid adieu to Illinois’ capital city on Wednesday, September 8 in a show at the Prairie Capital Convention Center. Tickets for the show go on sale this Saturday at noon at the center's box office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com and ww.cc.com or by phone at (217) 544-9400.
Prairie Capital Convention Center director Judith Meiron has attempted to book Cher on this tour in the past. The closest Illinois stops the legendary diva made on former farewell rounds were the Peoria Civic Center in August 2003 and an October 2002 show at Champaign’s Assembly Hall.
Cher has performed one other time in the Illinois capital at the 1972 Illinois State Fair with the late Sonny Bono. An offer was made to her for a show at the state fair in 1988, but she reportedly turned it down because of scheduling problems.
