Madigan to Receive Howard Brown Honor

State’s Attorney General to Appear at “Taste” Event

Chicago, IL - Howard Brown Health Center will present its 2004 Cornerstone Award to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, the agency announced today. The award will be given during Howard Brown’s 10th Annual “A Taste For Every Palate” fundraiser on Monday, May 10 at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

The Cornerstone Award is presented annually to an individual in recognition of their monumental efforts and contributions within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Past recipients include Dr. Alicia Matthews, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and State Representative Sara Feigenholtz.

Ms. Madigan, current Illinois Attorney General and former State Senator, has long been a leader in the fight for equal rights for LGBT Illinoisans. A longtime champion of women's health issues, Ms. Madigan has fought to establish and maintain access to health care for disadvantaged members of society. She has advocated for more money toward HIV prevention and care, as well as ensuring the prevention is done according to scientifically proven principles. In addition, the rights and safety of domestic violence victims rank among her policy priorities.

Ms. Madigan will receive the Cornerstone Award on May 10 in a special ceremony during “A Taste For Every Palate”.
