West Palm Beach, FL - As part of the fact finding mission into the tragedies that occurred at the Roskilde Festival on June 30, members of Pearl Jam voluntarily met with members of the Danish police department on August 8 and 9 in an effort by both parties to gain a better understanding of the factors that may have led to the Festival tragedies.

During the two-day meetings, members of Pearl Jam and band representatives relayed their accounts of what occurred that night to Danish police. Additionally, members of the Danish police accepted an invitation from the Pearl Jam security team to observe them during their West Palm Beach concert in an effort to learn about security and safety measures that might be implemented at the Roskilde Festival next year. Pearl Jam also offered to have their security team go to Denmark to consult with Roskilde Festival authorities regarding possible steps Festival security could take to help ensure the safety of their concert-goers.

Both Pearl Jam and Danish police described the meetings in Florida as informative and constructive. "We are in agreement that we will all do everything possible in an effort to identify all factors that may have contributed to the tragedies at the Roskilde Festival with the hope that we might learn ways in which tragedies of this nature can be avoided in the future. We look forward to continuing to work together cooperatively in an effort to achieve this goal," said Uffe Kornerup, Commissioner of the Roskilde police.

Pearl Jam had initially hoped to meet with Danish police in Denmark the day following the Roskilde tragedies. The band reiterated sentiments today from an earlier statement saying, "We are cooperating fully with the police inquiry. We owe it to the nine young men we lost, all of those who loved them, all of those who were injured, and all of the fans who attend our performances to make sure that all aspects that may have contributed to the tragedies at the Festival are examined thoroughly. There are always things that can be learned and hopefully improved upon to help ensure that what happened at Roskilde does not happen again."

Details of Pearl Jam's and band representatives' accounts will not be released until the conclusion of the police inquiry.
