Chicago, IL - The Bears took the first step in a possible trip to the Super Bowl this afternoon, beating the Seattle Seahawks 35-24 at frigid Soldier Field and setting up a showdown next week with the team's nemesis to the north, the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears got off to a quick start -- scoring on a 58-yard touchdown pass from Jay Cutler to Greg Olsen on their first possession. They added another TD in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Chester Taylor, and shortly into the second quarter, Cutler ran it in from six yards out for the Bears' third TD.

Cutler added another touchdown run from 9 yards out with about four minutes to go in the third quarter and Robbie Gould's extra point made it 28-0.

Seattle added a field goal early in the fourth quarter and followed up with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Mike Williams after an interception. But Cutler threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Kellen Davis with about 4 minutes left to help build the lead back to 35-10.

Seattle wasn't done though -- a TD pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Mike Williams made it 35-17 with a little more than 2 minutes left. Less than a minute later, after taking over from the bears on downs, Hasselbeck threw another TD pass to make it 35-24.

Whether the Bears or the Seahawks gets to take the next step -- the NFC championship game next weekend versus Green Bay -- remains to be seen.

The Bears and Seattle have played once already this season at Soldier Field, and it didn't end well for the home team. Seattle won 23-20 as the Bears offense suffered from poor line play (six sacks for Seattle) and went 0-for-12 on third-down conversions.

Seattle wide receiver Mike Williams, meanwhile, turned from first-round bust into a star for a day, catching 10 passes for 123 yards.
