Which Pride festivals, events have returned, been rescheduled?

Pride month, a celebration of love, diversity, acceptance and unashamed self-pride, begins Tuesday, June 1.

This year’s Pride month will continue to be celebrated differently due to the coronavirus pandemic, but after the virus canceled nearly every in-person event in 2020, some are back this year.

Chicago Pride Fest is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 1-2, followed by the annual Chicago Pride Parade on Oct. 3, allowing restrictions to further ease. But there are still a number of events planned for June, including Pride in the Park on June 26 and 27.

And Navy Pier Pride, a day-long pride celebration for the entire family, returns on June 26 from 1 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Proud to Run has again been postponed in 2021. But, Chicago Pride Bowl, the annual flag football tournament presented by the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association, will make a return on June 25 and 26 along Chicago’s lakefront.

A unique fundraiser has been added to the 2021 Pride month calendar. The inaugural Pride Workout to benefit Chicago House will be held on June 6 in the parking lot at Replay Lakeview starting at 10 a.m.

Suburban Pride celebrations are marching forward with plans throughout June.

The Waukegan Pride Drive kicks off Pride month on June 5 at 1 p.m.

On June 6, BG Pride Drive returns for a second year in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove. The 3-hour event starts at 12 noon and features 100-plus homes and businesses along the rainbow journey.

Thousands of cars attended last year’s BG Pride Drive, and organizers are expecting even more this year.

“There will be so much to do and see that no family could possibly get to all of it,” event organizer Carolyn Pinta of The Pinta Pride Project told GoPride.com.

And the second annual Pride Drive in Aurora is planned or June 13.

Meanwhile, just in time for Pride, LEGO has released a Pride set “because everyone is awesome.”
