Waukegan, IL -
A 29-year-old Waukegan man is charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy, and knowingly transmitting HIV to the teen.
Marcus E. Davis was charged with criminal transmission of HIV, a Class 2 felony, and three counts of aggravated sexual abuse, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said in a news release
The parents of the now 16-year-old boy told investigators their son had been sexually active with Davis on numerous occasions since the boy was 15 years old after meeting through a popular mobile dating app.
After a four-month investigation, investigators determined Davis, who was aware he was HIV-positive, did not tell the boy until after the two had multiple sexual encounters.
According to Illinois state law, anyone who has unprotected sex with someone after becoming aware that they are infected with HIV commits criminal transmission of HIV
The Lake County Sheriff's Office is asking that anyone who may be a victim of Davis to report it to detectives at 847-377-4250
