Chicago Filmmakers, Dyke Delicious Series continue with 2019 screenings

Chicago, IL - Since 1973, Chicago Filmmakers, a not-for-profit media arts organization, has fostered the creation, appreciation, and understanding of film and video as media for artistic and personal expression, as well as media of important social and community impact. The organization develops diverse audiences through its year-round weekly film and video exhibition programs and its two annual film festivals, Reeling the Chicago LGBTQ International Film Festival and The Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival.

TELESONIC 9000

With live music soundtrack by Dominick Gray

TELESONIC 9000 is a kaleidoscopic patchwork of found footage from more than 300 archival films and set to an original soundtrack of eclectic music composed by musician and artist Dominick Gray. Dunye's second feature is the story of Treasure Lee (Yolanda Ross), a young African American woman who has moved out of "juvenile" prison to the State Pen in search of Brownie (Davenia Mc Fadden) the mother she never knew. Based on four years of research into the lives of incarcerated women, the film is an authentic study of American prison life in the 21st century. Directed by Cheryl Dunye, 2000, USA, 90 mins.

This intriguing documentary shuttles from New York to France to Chicago as it traces the life story of the late Vivian Maier, a career nanny whose previously unknown cache of 100,000 photographs has earned her a posthumous reputation as one of America's most accomplished and insightful street photographers.
