The new, now-open Fajita Factory in Boystown has a colorful Latin mix of food, drinks

The Fajita Factory Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27

Chicago, IL - The D.S. Fajita Factory in Boystown is a counter service restaurant concept that takes Latin American cooking to a new level, as guests can enjoy a worldly take on fajitas and a wide selection of empanadas.

Indoor seating now and, come summer, there will be patio dining too, and also catering options.

No surprise, Fajita Factory's Latin-inspired drink menu includes margaritas, sangrias and mojitos served in large glasses. Be sure to sample the Chili Mango Margarita, the Basil Watermelon Mojito and the Frozen White Peach Sangria – all now part of Fajita Factory's rotating drink menu.

"Our service style is casual and quick," said Fajita Factory co-owner John Dalton, a longtime Boystown regular who now adds Fajita Master to his resume. "Order from the cashier, take a number, grab a seat and enjoy. Your meal will be created in our open-air kitchen, hand-prepared quickly in front of your eyes with portions to make your head spin.

"We present D.S. Fajita Factory, the Hot Mess Express in Boystown, Chicago."

Located at 3445 N. Halsted Street, Fajita Factory is a 1,200 square-foot restaurant with seating for 40, plus another 40 on the patio (weather permitting).

The Grand Opening party for Fajita Factory will be in January and, among other things, will feature an in-restaurant appearance by muralist Werm, with live artwork. The Grand Opening will feature complimentary bites from across the menu.

"Customers at our sister restaurant, D.S. Tequila Co., ask where are the fajitas and empanadas on the menu. We figured we would offer this option in our new space," Dalton said. "We also know that fajitas and empanadas make for amazing catering options. Fajita Factory also will concentrate on offering easy catering options, perfect for any size occasion.

"Halsted Street is fast becoming a great location (for) restaurant concepts, not just bar entertainment. We want to add to that dynamic by providing an approachable atmosphere to all."

Margaritas will, of course, be plentiful – and the Frozen Habanero Mango Margarita is a must-try.

Drinks will be served in a 20-ounce glass.

"The menu is mainly composed of globally-inspired takes on fajitas and Americanized empanada options," Dalton said. "Instead of the big mess of plates that you would normally expect from ordering restaurant fajitas, Fajita Factory's fajitas come all on one nice, neat gourmet tray. No muss, no fuss. We also do not offer sizzling fajitas, as we don't want people worrying what they will smell like as they hop from bar to bar afterward. We have all the heat without the sizzle.

"Our empanadas will have an Americana flare with options such as twice-loaded baked potato, slow-smoked brisket, buffalo chicken, crab Rangoon, Steakhouse and other empanadas that will rotate throughout the year."

And yes, there will be vegan fajita and empanada options.

Empanadas are $3.50 and fajitas range from $14-$18.

Another must-try: The Loaded, Twice-Baked Potato Empanada.

Fajita Factory – with a bright, colorful interior and exterior – brings a Latin Pop Music and Latin American Crossover vibe, with song from such artists as Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Gypsy Kings, and others.

Fajita Factory is energetic, yet comfortable.

"We hope Fajita Factory appeals to everyone. The food is approachable and affordable, fun for friends and family," Dalton said.

The Fajita Factory menu is a team effort with chefs from DS Tequila Co, Stu Zirin and Dusty Carpenter.

"I am really hoping Fajita Factory will be part of the Lakeview community. This community is so diverse; I want everyone to feel like they have a place within our doors," Dalton said.

Update: The Fajita Factory Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27, from 5-9 p.m., with free samples of fajitas and empanadas, along with complimentary tastes from their beverage list.

In addition, attendees can get a free shirt hand-airbrushed by the artist that painted the building, Greg Werm.

Fajita Factory kicks off its grand opening week with a HOT MESS SPECIAL: TWO fajitas for the price of ONE, from January 28th through February 3rd.
