D.S. Tequila captured the first-place in the Sam Adams Taco Fest Best Tacos Award 2018, presented Sept. 16 in the Southport Corridor, marking the second major award this summer for the Boystown bar/restaurant.
D.S. on July 15 claimed the Roscoe Village People's Choice Best Burger 2018 for its Bourbon Street Burger, featuring bourbon aioli, crispy onion strings, mixed greens, apple wood smoked bacon, Monterey jack cheese, Cajun seasoning, and served on a brioche bun.
"When most people think about food at DS, it's all about the tacos. This (burger) award helps us let people know we have outstanding burgers as well," said Dusty Carpenter, who is the Director of Operations for D.S. Tequila Co. and D.S. Fajita Factory.
The taco title came after D.S. offered three distinctive tacos – and people trying the tacos at the festival would text in their vote from 14 taco vendors. D.S. offered its coffee-rubbed steak tacos, bourbon chicken, and tequila shrimp.
The taco title, Carpenter said, "was a great way for us to end the festival season."
"Our kitchen team works extremely hard to produce great food and this award is an amazing recognition of their hard work," he added. "We were extremely happy to win. Our team was very focused on Taco Fest and Burger Fest this year.
"The entire team at D.S. deserves the credit. Serving the same quality of food at a festival as we do in the restaurant isn't easy."
