Wood, Chair of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations and Laura Rissover, Chair of the Commission's Advisory Council on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues (ACLGBTI). The auction will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Cell Block, 3702 N. Halsted Street. Prominent personalities from Chicago's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities will offer items and services for bidders to consider. Auction items will include catered parties, dining packages, video collector sets and rental packages, pet-care products and services, theatre tickets, art objects, historic treasures, travel packages, a spa visit and makeover, and much more.
"In addition to all the other terrific items, this year we have two wonderful and unusual lots. The first is dinner and tour of the Auditorium Theatre Building hosted by Charles Middleton, President of Roosevelt University. The second is a guitar autographed by the members of the rock group STYX," stated Bill Greaves, ACLGBTI director. "I can't wait. There is always a great variety of auction items. Something for everyone!" Ketel One Vodka drink specials will also be featured.
The 2003 Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 in Sydney Yates Gallery, Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph Street. The event is privately funded through generous donations from individuals, businesses, organizations, and fundraisers such as the Celebrity Auction. The Chicago Commission on Human Relations, members of ACLGBTI, and volunteers provide staff support. Chicago is the only municipality known to honor its LGBT communities in this manner. The Hall of Fame not only pays tribute to individuals and organizations but also documents the LGBT communities' heritage and diversity through its annual publication and its website (www.GLHallofFame.org).
Individuals, businesses, and organizations that wish to donate or need additional information may contact Bill Greaves at 312-744-7911(voice) or 312-744-1088 (TTY) or the Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame at 773-281-5077 (voice).
