Chicago, IL -
Melrose Restaurant, a popular mainstay at the corner of Melrose and Broadway, appears to be closed permanently.
There is paper on the restaurant's windows with a "for rent" sign. No one answers the phone and GrubHub is no longer accepting orders.
The iconic diner located at 3233 N. Broadway opened in 1961 and for decades was open 24-hours, making it a popular late-night destination after the bars in Boystown closed.
But following the death of its longtime owner in 2010, Melrose Restaurant started closing at 10 p.m. The American diner served breakfast, lunch and dinner.
DNAinfo first noted the closing.
