Miss Foozie hosts 8th Annual Coming Out Ball

Fri. October 9, 2009

Chicago, IL - On Friday, Common Ground and Columbia College Chicago presented the Eighth Annual Coming Out Ball entitled "Beautiful Dirty Hollywood", a yearly gala hosted by local colleges celebrating National Coming Out Day for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) youth of the Chicago area.

Hundreds of college students attended the event co-sponsored by ChicagoPride.com and hosted by Miss Foozie who was cheered by partygoers throughout the evening.

One group of talented students took control of the center of the dance floor early in the evening and performed a short dance revue loved by the crowd.

The event was impeded when the venue was filled beyond capacity. When a cocktail party hosted in a lounge area was announced over, private security attempted to limit admission to the ballroom area which, by unknown regulation, was only able to accommodate a fraction of those in attendance.

"This is what happens when you have a five dollar an hour rent-a-cop at the door," blasted one student.

Hundreds clogged the elevator lobby of the 2nd floor at Columbia awaiting ballroom entrance, and following faculty intervention, admission into the hall was expanded. Those inside were encouraged to rotate in and out of the ballroom to let other attendees enjoy the festivities.

The majority of excited participants were patient.

While not a scientific estimation, the crowd appeared to be 70% female, 30% male.

Proceeds of the event are donated to a Chicago LGBT related charity chosen by the hosting school.
