Chicago, IL -
Mark Buehrle pitched only the second perfect game in the history of the Chicago White Sox Thursday afternoon at US Cellular Field.
The Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 with Buehrle retiring 27 consecutive batters.
The 30 year-old 6'2", 230 lb. left handed Buehrle joins an elite group of only 19 other perfect game pitchers in the history of Major League Baseball.
A small group gathered to watch the game at Crew Bar & Grill in Uptown, yet owner Steven Woody tells ChicagoPride.com the room was "electric."
"It was a thrilling game to watch," said Woody. "In the 8th inning it was about baseball and history, not Cubs or Sox fans."
