Despite St. Patrick's Day officially falling on Thursday, Chicago is primed and ready to paint the city green this Saturday and Sunday.
Still haven't decided where to slam a few green beers and get into trouble? Here's a list of the nine best Boystown bars and restaurants to celebrate your inner Irish.
Dive Bar
Free fried chicken bar. We're not kidding. The beach-themed bar and restaurant is opening on Saturday at noon for drinks, and 3 p.m. for food. But should you come around 11 p.m., expect to overindulge in free fried chicken while DJ Josh Maggio spins until 3 a.m. Also, did we mention well drinks are only $5 open to close?
Head back on Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the ultimate hangover remedy. Just $13 gets you food and a mimosa package while Toyota Corona hosts a Bingo Brunch where you could even win your breakfast. Plus, watch a bunch of gays participate in a pie eating contest at 3 p.m. in an attempt to win $50. Pure comedy.
Roscoe's Tavern
Expect plenty of action at Roscoe's on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. It all starts at 10 a.m. with "You Can't Drink All Day If You Don't Start In The Morning," an event that dishes up a huge breakfast and premium bar until 2 p.m. That's followed by Billboard No. 1 artist and Grammy producer Lee Dagger of Bimbo Jones spinning all night on the dancefloor.
Need plans for Sunday, too? Roscoe's will have $1 green Miller Lite Drafts and a free burger bar. Talk about the perfect hangover remedy.
Sidetrack
The Boystown mainstay plans to open at noon on Saturday, offering up a signature green Midori Melon Ball frozen cocktail in honor of the holiday. Expect giveaways, stellar music, sexy Jameson Boys and best of all, no cover charge.
Hydrate Nightclub
Looking to hit the dance floor on Saturday? Hydrate has you covered with the Australian award-winning DJ Kitty Glitter, making her Chicago debut. Kitty Glitter is best known for her pop remixes and vocal house music, so sing along to your favorite hits while dancing till dawn. Literally. The party ends at 5 a.m.
Minibar
Is a boozy brunch calling your name? Then head to Minibar on either Saturday or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., where $25 gets you a bottle of champagne and a full brunch.
Progress Bar
The always-packed bar at the corner of Halsted and Roscoe plans to serve up $4 green Miller Lite Drafts, $5 Jameson drinks and $8 Irish Car Bombs. Plus, score some free St. Patty's Day Swag if you're lucky. And in honor of the holiday, Progress plans an unbeatable DJ lineup.
DS Tequila Company
Considering it's expected to be the last sunny day before Chicago is flooded with rain, take to the patio at DS Tequila on Saturday. The bar and restaurant will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. on St. Patty's Day, serving up green beer and frozen drinks.
Taverna 750
Looking for a full Irish breakfast? Look no further than Taverna 750, the always-delicious bar and restaurant. Opening at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Taverna is serving up green mimosas and Irish menu items in honor of St. Patrick's Day.
Scarlet Bar
If a vial of fireball is calling your name, head over to Scarlet. The nightclub plans to offer limited bottle service featuring Stoli, and if you head to Taverna first, you'll get first priority, the manaer says.
Replay Beer & Bourbon
The resident Boystown arcade bar is actually hosting their St. Patty's Day celebration on Thursday, March 17, during the actual St. Patrick's Day holiday. Owners say they'll be pouring $3 Bud Lites and $4 Jameson beverages. Plus, enter the raffle for a chance to win more than $200 in prizes. Best of all, Debbie Fox will host the festivities.
BONUS: Replay Andersonville
Feeling hungry and want to trek a little further north? Replay in Andersonville is introducing a huge new portion of its menu to cater to the Irish holiday, and everything sounds delicious. From March 11 - 17, customers can taste a scrumptious spin on a traditional Irish corned beef sandwich, shepherd's pie burger, chicken curry and, of course, corned beef and cabbage. Plus, hit up the local favorite for brunch on Saturday or Sunday for a traditional Irish breakfast.
