65,000 drivers face Chicago booting

Chicago, IL - Chicago is lowering the boom on motorists with two unpaid parking tickets older than one year after lowering the threshold for applying the Denver boot: 65,318 seizure notices have been mailed and 415 vehicles have been booted, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.



Desperate for dollars to erase a threatened $300 million budget shortfall, City Hall has embarked on a booting blitz sparked by the City Council's decision to drop the booting threshold from three unpaid tickets to two. Before 2002, the trigger was five delinquent tickets.
