Openly gay talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres drops from first to second place on Out magazine's third annual "Power 50" list.
DeGeneres loses the top spot to Democratic heavyweight U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris makes his debut on the list at No. 28. "Harris could do no wrong," write the editors. Also marking a first on the "power" list, comedienne Wanda Sykes is a new addition at No. 35.
Matt Drudge, creator of the right-wing Drudge Report, makes the list at No. 6. The magazine says that he "happens to love Chaka Khan, The Young and the Restless, and sex with men." The paragraph ends "Unfortunately, his agenda is often anti-gay, anti-choice, and anti-tolerance. No one said power was always used for good."
Out says Drudge is "coy about his homosexuality."
The "Power 50" list is determined by an individual's political clout, cultural resonance, individual wealth, and current personal profile.
Other top spots went to Rachel Maddow (4), the not-out Anderson Cooper (3), Episcopal Bishop V. Gene Robinson (7) and Jodie Foster (36).
