City closes Roscoe's through July 17th

The popular Boystown bar is closed through Friday, July 17, after the city suspended its liquor license for overcrowding during the 2014 Pride Parade

Chicago, IL - The City of Chicago has closed Roscoe's Tavern, 3356 N. Halsted, through Friday, July 17th for exceeding the allowed occupancy.

Roscoe's posted a message on its Facebook page and website Monday.

"The safety of our customers is, was and always will be our number one priority. We have learned a lot from this experience and have implemented specific procedures to help prevent this from happening again," the message read.

The closure is the result of a citation from the fire marshal during the Pride Parade in June 2014.

In an interview with DNA Info, owner Jim Ludwig denied the bar was more crowded last year than previous years and he slammed the city for "very, very spotty, erratic enforcement."

Roscoe's will reopen Saturday, July 18 for a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the movie "Clueless."
