The organizers of the 46th Annual Chicago Pride Parade have released the parade line-up, which includes 200 entries featuring colorful floats, decorated vehicles, marching bands and walking contingents representing community businesses, organizations, elected governmental officials and individuals.
The parade will kick-off with the color guard headed up by the "Scouts For Equality" who will be carrying several flags including United States, State of Illinois, Cook County, City of Chicago and the rainbow Pride flags. The group is made up of Scouts and their supportive families and friends.
This year, parade entries have been limited in size to reduce the length of the parade, which should cut the running time from over 3 hours to just 2 1/2 hours.
The City of Chicago is also making several changes in an effort to curtail excessive and illegal drinking as well as post-parade mayhem. A zero-tolerance policy for drinking along the parade route will be enforced with checkpoints along the route and could result in fines up to $1,000 for open containers.
"Hundreds of thousands of people will be coming for the parade. Since the international theme for Pride celebrations this year is 'Color Our World with Pride,' we ask for their support in keeping the parade and the hours after the parade safe by celebrating both respectfully and responsibly," parade coordinator Richard Pfeiffer told ChicagoPride.com.

The Grand Marshal for this year's parade is out country star Ty Herndon.
"I consider it a great honor to represent my community with pride, love and acceptance as we move forward with change in this world," Herndon told ChicagoPride.com.
The parade is scheduled for Sunday, June 28 at noon stepping off from Broadway and Montrose in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. The parade will then travel south on Broadway; then south on Halsted; then east on Belmont; then south on Broadway; then east on Diversey to Cannon Drive. Over 1 million people are expected to attend.
