Nate Berkus, husband Jeremiah Brent to be dads

Thu. September 25, 2014

Designer Nate Berkus and husband Jeremiah Brent are expecting a baby.

"We have had the most special year and it's JUST become even more beautiful," the couple said in a Facebook post. "We are happy to announce that we are expecting our first child!"

"While we can't share much, we can say that thanks to a surrogate and the support of those we love we will officially be a family in the spring of 2015!" the men added.

The men made history in May as the first gay couple to marry at the iconic New York Public Library, roughly a year after Berkus asked the question atop the 15th-century Inca site Machu Picchu in Peru.

Berkus currently hosts the NBC reality show American Dream Builders, while Brent is a designer who appeared on cabler Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project.
