Chicago, IL -
In the tradition of Horizons Community Services’ annual Pride Dance, Center on Halsted will host “Centered on Pride” on Friday, June 27, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. in the lot on the corner of Waveland and Halsted – the Center’s future home.
As always there will be plenty of food, beverages, and music which includes Circuitmom – DJ and producer -- and special appearances by the Chicago Kings and the Kit Kat Divas. This year’s entertainment will feature dance pop diva Becky Baeling, who has been performing professionally since she was six years old.
Dubbed Universal Records’ “Detroit clubland princess,“ Baeling sang at the 18th Annual Winter Music Conference in Miami and, most recently, performed a duet with Brian McKnight at Summer Music Mania. “I choose to dance and sing from my soul, and live out loud,” Baeling says of her latest album Becstacy – so named because the song lyrics “explore the emotions … that long to pop your soul out of your body.” Baeling will perform several cuts from this new album as well as her hit single Getaway.
This year’s event also offers carnival games, salsa and two-stepping dance lessons, and a story corner, hair braiding and face painting for children. Donation: $5.
Special thanks to the sponsors of the “Centered on Pride” event. These include: Miller Lite , American Airlines, Circuitmom Productions, Circuit Nightclub, Sidetrack, Kit Kat Club, and Cheetah Gym.
As the Midwest’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender social service and advocacy agency, Horizons Community Services, Inc., has provided a wide array of counseling support, referral, advocacy, and educational programs to over a half million people during the last 30 years.
