John Edwards Endorses Barack Obama

Wed. May 14, 2008

Grand Rapids, MI - Former presidential candidate John Edwards endorsed Sen. Barack Obama today at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"This is our time to build one America we believe in," Edwards told the energized crowd.

Both Obama and the other remaining Democrat, Sen. Hillary Clinton, had sought Edwards' blessing since the former North Carolina senator quit the race in January.

Edwards dropped out of the Democratic race on January 30 after poor showings in the early contests. Edwards still has 19 delegates who are free to support whomever they choose at the party's national convention, regardless of Edwards' endorsement.

Clinton refuses to give up her long-shot candidacy.
