NBC News reports Gov. Mike Huckabee held a fundraiser at the Texas compound of millionaire televangelist Kenneth Copeland last month.
The controversial Copeland is currently under investigation by the U.S. Sentate amid allegations that millions of dollars in tax-exempt church donations have been used for their personal benefit and a number of for-profit businesses. CBS News reports Copeland has refused to cooperate with the Senate investigation.
CBS News reports that Copeland's family has donated more than $29,000 to Huckabee's campaign.
Huckabee's association with Copeland has some questioning the republican presidential candidate's judgment.
A Baptist minister and social conservative, Huckabee is a favorite among evangelical Christians.
"I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God," Huckabee recently told a crowd when discussing the 14th Amendment to deny citizenship to children born on US soil to undocumented immigrant parents. Huckabee is the only presidential candidate to have called for the elimination of birthright citizenship.
Huckabee has also suggested plans for an amendment to ban gay marriage.
