CTA Offers Penny Fares On New Year's Eve and Day

Chicago, IL - New Years Eve revelers in Chicago will have a convenient, safe and affordable travel alternative to arrive home safely tonight.

The Chicago Transit Authority will continue its tradition of offering penny rides on New Year's Eve beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, December 31 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, January 1 (New Year's Day).



All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a regular schedule on Monday, December 31. Bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule Tuesday, January 1.

The suburban bus agency Pace will also offer penny rides on the few routes it will be running Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Information about all CTA service will be available throughout the night New Year's Eve (normal hours are usually 5 a.m. – 1 a.m. seven days a week) by calling 836-7000 (for all local area codes).

Metra trains will run a little later on Monday.
