Brompton Auto Shop, the former auto repair shop location once eyed by West Hollywood's Abbey bar, is set to become a new preschool.
Lakeview Patch reports that Children's Learning Place is headed to Boystown after signing a 15-year lease at the former Brompton Body Shop, 3532 N. Halsted Street, which is used mostly for parking cars during Cubs games.
Last summer, The Abbey reportedly considered purchasing the 12,260 square-foot building for a Chicago location.
Long an eyesore in the middle of Boystown, the former auto repair shop requires considerable clean-up work to address environmental concerns. The landlord reportedly plans to spend about $1.5 million remodeling the property.
The Lakeview location plans to open fall of 2014 and accomodate 140 children.
