‘Wonder Woman' Lynda Carter to perform at Market Days

Chicago, IL - Lynda Carter, the actress who played the iconic Wonder Woman in the 70's, is the second entertainment act to be announced for Northalsted Market Days this August in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood.

Event organizers Friday confirmed to ChicagoPride.com that Carter will perform on on Sun., Aug. 11. She'll join Wilson Phillips on the entertainment lineup for the annual two-day street festival.



"We have just confirmed the appearance of a superhero at Market Days," joked The Gourmet Grape owner Jeff Durbin, who is the Market Days chairperson for Northalsted Business Alliance.

Carter, who was Miss World USA in 1972, played Wonder Woman on television from 1975 to 1979, a role that cemented her status as an icon.



"Lynda is famously known as Wonder Woman," agreed Durbin. "Many people don't know she is a very talented singer."

The 61-year-old actress is an accomplished singer and performer. In 2011, Carter released her third album, Crazy Little Things, which she describes as a delightful mix of standards, country, and pop tunes.

The beloved icon has long supported gay rights. She served as grand marshall for both the Phoenix and New York pride parades in 2011.



The 2013 Northalsted Market Days will take place Sat., Aug. 10 - Sun., Aug. 11. along a six block span of N. Halsted St. between Belmont Ave. and Addison.
