A note from a father telling his son that he has known and is okay with him being gay went viral on Friday.
The note first appeared on the Facebook page of Stonewall, Britain's largest LGBT advocate. A reprint at FCKH8.com's Facebook page also attracted thousands of "likes."
In the handwritten note, a dad tells his son that he overheard him discussing with his boyfriend whether he should come out to him. The dad says to his son that he need not bother.
"Nate, I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class."
"We are out, like you now."
"I've known you were gay since you were six, I've loved you since you were born. - DAD."
"PS Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple."
The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ben Mankiewicz questioned the letter's authenticity, while Ana Kasparian said she believed it was real.
"I'm believing it," Kasparian said. "Maybe I'm naïve but I think it's real."
