Actor James Franco says he really doesn't care if people believe that he's gay.
The 34-year-old Franco has played gay in films numerous times, including Milk and Howl. His latest film, Interior. Leather Bar, premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
The film, which Franco produced with director Travis Matthews, recreates deleted gay scenes from the 1980 film Cruising. In the film, Al Pacino plays a New York police detective who goes undercover in the city's gay leather scene to catch a serial killer.
In an interview with MTV News, Franco said he's been accused of being gay since high school.
"In high school these girls got mad at me and so they spread this rumor that I was having a gay relationship with one of my closest friends," Franco said. "And they even made up a little dance they would do in the girl's locker room about me being gay. I still don't know what the dance was."
"It wasn't something that frightened me," he added. "Like if people think that, it's fine. I really don't care."
