Thousands of ghosts, ghouls and other things that go bump in the night (as well as some scantily clad athletes and drag queens) lined Halsted Street Monday evening to view the 16th annual Halloween Parade presented presented by the Northalsted Business Alliance and Triangle Neighbors Association.
Mild temperatures drew a diverse crowd, some in costume, some not, to an evening of apocalyptic fun lead by the incomparable Miss Foozie. For the first time since it's inception, the Parade route was lengthened and traveled from Waveland south to Belmont instead of the usual south to north route.
Costume contest participants strutted their stuff down Halsted, competing for the thousands of dollars awarded to the top costumes in categories like Most Original Costume, Scariest, Best Group, Best Drag and Best Pet Costume. The audience helped determine the winners along with guest judges MaCray Huff and Katrell Mendenhall from the Style Network's hit show "Chicagolicious."
The evening culminated with performances by the Chicago Spirit Brigade, Environmental Encroachment and the Chicago Fire Tribe.
