Flugtag team get second chance to launch "Phoebe"

Chicago, IL - To a packed house last night, Team Roscoe's, better know as Team Hell on Heels, and their craft "Phobe" kicked off their venture to San Francisco in November to compete in Red Bull Flugtag.

Red Bull Flugtag challenges teams of everyday people to build homemade, human-powered flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck in hopes of achieving flight. Flugtag may mean "flying day" in German, but all these crafts ultimately splash into the waters below. They are judged not only on their flight's distance, but creativity and showmanship as well.

The team was to compete in the Chicago Red Bull Flugtag on September 8, 2012. Unfortunately mother nature had other plans and the event had to be cancelled due to unsafe marine conditions. They then applied and were accepted to be part of the San Francisco Red Bull Flugtag on November 10, 2012. Thirty-six teams will compete as test pilots redefine air travel when they launch their human-powered flying machines off a 30-foot ramp into the chilly McCovey Cove waters.

"We are so excited to get a second chance," said Brenden Chrisman, Roscoe's General Manager and Team Manager. "After the weather grounded us last month, we looked back on all of the hard work that the Team had invested in the project and we just had to get a chance in the Flugtag."

Logistics for the trip have been complex as shipping "Phoebe" to the west coast is not a simple or inexpensive undertaking. Arranging for storage once she arrives, transportation to McCovey Cove and transportation and housing of Team members have all made for a major task.

Hell on Heels team members are David Sikora, Ricardo Avila (the pilot), Mario Elias, Dave Sineni and Eddie Gonzalez. Shawn Hazen is the Team coordinator.
