Illinois Congressman Schock says We'd like to give Chicago to Canada

Mon. October 22, 2012

Denies knowledge of DOMA ruling

Davenport, IA - The youngest and arguably the hottest member of Congress, Aaron Schock (R-IL), appeared at a Romney-Ryan event in Davenport, IA today and in remarks said: "We'd like to give Chicago to Canada. We were going to make them another state but I decided if we give them to Canada they can have all of their free health care and all the subsidies that they want."

Schock made a short, standard stump speech to the small crowd gathered at a local deli to help ignite the Romney-Ryan base to get out the vote. The congressman was sharply dressed for today's event sporting tight jeans, an open collared white shirt, polished dress boots and a blue jacket with the sheen of silk.

Asked directly by ChicagoPride.com about the recent DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) ruling from the Federal Appeals Court in New York which declared the act unconstitutional, he replied "I wouldn't know what you're talking about." Schock's response suggested he was either unaware of the events or being coy as he knew he was speaking to an LGBT publication.

Following a brief explanation of the DOMA events, Schock responded by telling ChicagoPride.com: "I think we should uphold the laws and if Congress passes new laws as we did with... [pause]... I think that any time that the federal government does not uphold the laws that the Congress passes it sets a dangerous precedent."

Schock, 31, and a Republican, is in his second term representing the 18th Illinois Congressional District.

Rumors and speculation over his sexuality have long plauged the unmarried Congressman. He posed shirtless for Men's Health magazine in May of 2011 which has further fueled speculation as to his sexual orientation. This issue resurfaced this summer, but as recently as early September, 2012, he denies being gay. In recent interviews Schock has refused elaboration when questioned about his status and also walked off when quizzed by SiriusXM OutQ radio.
