Who doesn’t want to love life? Who doesn’t wanna be happy? Who doesn’t wanna turn an empty dance floor into a hot, happening place full of shiny, happy people lovin’ not just life but Georgie Porgie’s new CD, Love Life & Be Happy. The message is simple, the music is upbeat, and the dancin’ is going to be energetic.
Georgie Porgie is known the world over as one of the hottest dance-music remixers to come out of Chicago—but that’s not all he is. He’s a young, exciting singer songwriter, record producer, and independent dance music recording mogul. Love Life & Be Happy starts off on a high note with “Life Goes On,” a catchy tune about movin’ on when things go wrong or men do ya wrong:
They may say things about you
Make you think you’re losing your mind
They’ll try to turn you out
Don’t you think twice about it
Stay strong you must fight it
You must carry on…
Life goes on and on…
And so does the beat-happy. “Sunshine” is quickly becoming Georgie’s personal anthem, and you’ll know why once you’ve given it a spin. “Be Happy” is a dancefloor version of an affirmation poem. “Love Is Gonna Save The Day” will keep you pumped up and motivated, ready to take on your dreams.
“I Can’t Turn Around” and “Forever” are a bit more serious, with “Forever” being an unconvincing attempt at a love ballad. The happy happy picks right up again, though, with “I Love I Love,” a song that’ll have you spinning and twirling on the floor even while shaking your hips—and if you’ve got some floating/flowing attire to work with, all the better. “Don’t Take Your Love” is a downer, lyrically, but full of energy and good feelin’ musically.
“It’s Alright” and “Love Story” are unremarkable, but “Don’t Take Your Love” is a steamy apologetic ballad that’s nice enough. Yet it doesn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the CD. Frankly, it’s a downer. But Georgie’s boy-band-grew-up sound is very nice. “Everybody Must Party” does what you’d expect it to do from the title—make ya wanna party.
The CD’s final cuts are more of the same—some dance pieces, a love song, and then some more poppin’ beats to make sure you’re still dancing. A number of the songs on this CD have made the illustrious U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music Charts as dance singles. Love Life & Be Happy puts them all in one place. And that’s something to be happy about. Known as the “Ambassador of Dance Music” and as a man determined to spread “lyrical love,” Georgie Porgie will no doubt be on our turntables for a good long time.
