ABC 7 Chicago's Windy City Live focuses on the Chicago side of the bullying epidemic

Chicago, IL - ABC 7 Chicago's Windy City LIVE takes and in-depth and personal look at Bullying, devoting the entire hour show to a candid discussion with Chicago area victims, educators, experts and a 7-year-old-girl who wrote two books on bullying. Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini will co-host the Windy City LIVE program on bullying, Wednesday, April 18 at 9:00 am ABC 7.



The recently released movie "Bully," and other heart-breaking news stories about victims of bullying, have kept the topic in the forefront of public consciousness. Through a local lens, Windy City LIVE delves into the problem of bullying and looks and ways to curtail its devastating reach.

The show kicks off with Windy City LIVE Senior Producer Hank Mendheim sharing his personal story about how he was bullied in grade school.

Tim King from Urban Prep Academies, talks about how schools are handling bullying and how they can improve their practices.



Then, four contributors from "The Mash," a high school newspaper owned by The Chicago Tribune, offer their insights about the realities of cyber bullying and traditional bullying as it exists in high schools today.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Bullying Prevention Expert Karin Stortz will talk about the myths and facts of bullying. Stortz will give pointers and techniques to help the parents of bullied children, the parents of bullies, and to the kids themselves.



In addition, Chiaverini and Warner will welcome Laniyah Bailey to the show. Bailey is the 7-year-old Chicago author of two books on bullying. Her mother, Latoya White will also join the discussion.

Marlaine Selip is the executive producer of Windy City LIVE; David Plummer is the producer of Windy City LIVE, "Bullying."
