Bully opens in Chicago this Friday

Fri. April 13, 2012

Chicago, IL - The much-talked-about documentary "Bully" will open in general release today, including theaters throughout Chicago.

Directed by Sundance and Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, "Bully" shares a series of stories about the devastating effects of bullying.

The film last week had its rating lowered from R to PG-13 after a campaign by supporters and after the distributor the Weinstein Company agreed to cut three of six F-bombs to earn a more kid-friendly rating.

"I want every 13- and 14-year-old to be able to go to this movie by themselves, watch the effects of these kids who bully other kids and make their own minds up that that's just uncool," Harvey Weinstein told CNN's Piers Morgan last month.

"Bully" is playing in Chicagoland at ShowPlace Icon Theatre, Chicago; AMC River East 21, Chicago; Century 12 Evanston, Evanston; AMC Northbrook Court 14, Northbrook; AMC Yorktown 17, Lombard.
