DJ Plez (Chicago/Milwaukee)

Tue. February 1, 2005

A self-proclaimed “house-head”, DJ Plez (aka Michael Pleasants) has been sharing his passion for the 4/4 beat with live sets for excited dance floors around the world during the past several years. With a diverse range of dance music “likes” to accompany his true love of classic house music, DJ Plez has developed a unique style that melds funky house, progressive, tribal, tech house, underground, deep house, and garage into a cohesive presentation that is rhythmically exciting, sexy, and energetic. He uses fresh approaches for each of his live sets, skillfully producing intricate mixes on the fly and creating a sense of dance floor drama with his in-booth programming. Most importantly to DJ Plez, he makes sure his live sets, as well as his mixed compilation CDs, have one abiding element: GROOVE!

The most significant influence on DJ Plez’s abilities in the DJ booth is the knowledge he gains when he’s out dancing with other party-goers, learning and understanding what people want and need from their music. Maintaining this intimate connection with the dance floor allows him to be that much more successful in the DJ booth.

DJ Plez has had a global reach with his music with gigs in places such as Zurich, Switzerland (Nuts & Bolts Party and Labor-Bar), Montreal (Club Unity and Chrome), and Miami (Cactus). Locally, he has had guest appearances at Sound-Bar, Y, and Crobar and is currently a resident at PUMP! Milwaukee and Kafka Wine Co. Outside the DJ booth, DJ Plez is the Music Editor of ChicagoPride.com and Boi Magazine.
