Chicago, IL -
It was just 5 months ago that talk show host Rosie O'Donnell became one of the Chicago's highest profile LGBTs-in-residence when she bought a home in Lakeview. Now that home is formally back on the market.
In a story posted last week on ChicagoPride.com, Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker said that while O'Donnell, 49, had not officially put her 6,000-square-foot multi-million dollar home on the market, she was reportedly telling a handful of people that her home is for sale at the right price.
Real estate agent Paul Blackburn tells ChicagoPride.com that the right price appears to be $2.5 million for the 6,000-square-foot Lakeview home located at 1517 W Grace. The property was listed Monday afternoon.
At the time O'Donnell purchased the five bedroom home, boasting a home theater, sports bar, 3 car heated garage, 2000-square-foot rooftop deck, plus 11 foot ceilings, it was listed at $2.5 million. O'Donnell purchased the property in September for $2.25 million.
The sale of her home and potential move back to New York has some in the industry questing what it means for the future of O'Donnell's daily talk show, which airs on Oprah's OWN Network.
According to Zwecker, "The Rosie Show" has been "ratings-challenged." The show, which is taped at Harpo Studios on the Near West Side, was downsized earlier this year when the studio audience was eliminated.
"She bought it impulsively," O'Donnell's publicist told the Chicago Tribune last week. "She's re-evaluating her real estate holdings."
The publicist said there are no plans for O'Donnell and the show to leave Chicago. O'Donnell is staying in a corporate-supplied apartment.
