Whitney Houston dead at 48

Sat. February 11, 2012

Singer Whitney Houston, who in recent years struggled with drug abuse, has died reported the Associated Press citing her publicist Kristin Foster.

Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause of her death remains unclear. TMZ reported that Houston died during the afternoon at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

In May, Houston voluntarily returned to rehab after struggling with alcohol and drug abuse.

Houston, a winner of six Grammys, sold over 200 million albums worldwide and is best known for her hit songs "I Have Nothing" and "I Will Always Love You".

Her career suffered a major setback after admitting drug use during an abusive relationship with her former husband Bobby Brown.

Houston is survived by daughter Bobbi Kristina and Brown.
