Chicago, IL -
As Chicago police continue investigating the murder of a man found stabbed to death inside his apartment in the Edgewater Neighborhood, the brutal murder has raised concerned on Chicago’s North Side.
Gibson, a special education teacher at Gage Park High School, was found by a friend concerned when Gibson could not be reached.
The victim was discovered in a back hallway of the apartment in the 1000 Block of West Balmoral Sunday afternoon, naked with multiple stab wounds to his torso. Investigators said a knife was recovered on the floor, and there appeared to have been a struggle.
Gibson is the third single man found slain in a North Side apartment in the last 14 months.
In August 2003, Brad Nelson Winters, 38, was found naked and stabbed multiple times in the back in his West Belden Avenue apartment. The body of Kevin Clewer, 31, was found found naked, stabbed in the back 30 times on March 24, 2004 in his apartment bedroom in the 3400 block of North Elaine.
At that time, Police said while the Winters and Clewer homicides share similarities, the cases share no physical evidence.
Neighbors of Gibson are concerned about some of the similarities between his murder and the two unsolved murders on the North Side.
Police say there is no reason to connect this to other attacks that happened further south in the Lake View neighborhood.
Police continue to look for the suspect in the Clewer homicide. The man is described as a Male White Hispanic, approx. 25 years old, 5' 7" tall, slim / athletic build, speaks with a Hispanic or European Spanish accent.
Anyone with information is asked to call Belmont Area detectives at 312-744-8261.
