Gay bashing group has a new target: Muslims on TV

Tue. December 13, 2011

Dearborn, Mich. - The Florida Family Association, which has targeted "Gay Days" at Disney World, is also the group behind the current "All American Muslim" controversy.

The Florida Family Association got hardware retailer Lowe's to pull its advertising off "All American Muslim" recently; the group also said that it's gotten 60 other companies to do the same, although TLC would not confirm a number.

The Association said that "stopping the spread of Islam" is the number one social issue for its members -- even more important than homosexuality and pornography.

"All American Muslim" is a reality show about five Muslim families in Dearborn, Mich., a suburb of Detroit. It airs on Monday nights.

"This has all to do with the way this program was constructed to deliberately present Muslims in America as one flavor," FFA founder David Caton told The Associated Press. "For TLC to choose to profile five people as an aberration of the Islamic faith is propaganda. 99.9 percent of Muslims agree with the principles of Sharia law."

The Florida Family Association has also attempted to get a state university to pull a course on "queer theory" and has complained about Nickelodeon show that members believed promoted transgender acceptance.
