CBS' The Good Wife, starring Julianna Margulies, returned Sunday night with a season premiere that included violent video games, gay crimes of passion and mention of two Boystown favorites.
Toward the end of the season 3 opener, Archie Panjabi's Kalinda and Kelli Giddish's Sophia cornered a suspect inside a gay bar.
"If you are looking for a more discreet gay bar, I'd try Scarlet on Halsted," Sophia told Tariq, a gay Muslim student accused of killing a classmate in a fit of passion.
"I'd try Sidetrack," said Kalinda
"It's too leathery," rebutted Sophia.
Though Sidetrack is far from a leather bar, both clubs do exist along Halsted St. in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood. The very mention of the bars sent Twitter and Facebook buzzing last night as the episode aired.
"I had no idea Scarlet was going to be mentioned," owner Paul Cannella told ChicagoPride.com. "All of a sudden, I started getting a bunch of texts and posts on Facebook that Scarlet was just mentioned on the show."
Spoiler alert: Margulies' Alicia, with the help of Kalinda and Sophia, was able to prove that Tariq was the one that killed Simon in a lovers' quarrel.
Fans of the legal drama will recall that Kalinda and Sophia hooked-up last year on the show's season finale in what was network prime-time's first lesbian sex scene.
The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9 p.m./8 Central on CBS.
