Curaçao celebrates LGBT community with Get Wet Weekend

Seventh annual event brings gay- and straight-friendly events and parties across the island

Willemstad, Curaçao - The island of Curaçao kicks off its seventh annual Get Wet Weekend of gay (and straight) friendly activities, September 30, to October 8, 2011, hosted by the Gay Plasa organization, a GLBT community group. Travelers can enjoy cultural events, get-togethers and dances across the island.



The party starts Friday, September 30, with the Get Wet Weekend Grand Opening Meet and Greet at the Curaçao Maritime Center at 8 p.m. The weekend closes on Saturday, October 8, with the popular Drag Show at the Because Entertainment Center at 8 p.m. Visitors and locals alike will likely not want to miss the Navi.GAY.Tion Party on Saturday, October 1, at the beautiful Porto Marie Beach at 9 p.m. or he Sunset Pool Lounge Party at the Floris Suite Hotel on Sunday, October 2, at 4 p.m.

"Curaçao is renowned in the Caribbean and beyond for its ‘Live and Let Live' attitude, welcoming everyone to explore its colorful culture, uncrowded beaches and pristine dive sites," says André Rojer, Curaçao Tourist Board Marketing Manager North America.



"Curaçao is also proud to hold the largest International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) membership in all of the Caribbean."
