Northalsted Market Days, August 7-8

Fri. July 9, 2004

The Midwest's largest two-day street festival

Chicago, IL - Northalsted Market Days, the largest two-day outdoor street festival in the Midwest—and arguably the most diverse in terms of people-watching and musical acts—will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8, on Halsted Street between Belmont and Addison in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.

Among those scheduled to perform are: British synth-popsters A Flock of Seagulls; acclaimed Grammy Award-winner Shelby Lynne (country/blues/roots rock); San Francisco queer punk rockers Pansy Division; and The Von Trapp Children, scions of the legendary Austrian musical family.

Sponsored by the Northalsted Area Merchants Association, Market Days—now celebrating its 23nd year—will feature more than 350 arts/craft/food vendors and nearly 30 entertainment acts on three stages.

Hours are 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. each day. Suggested gate donation is $6 with a portion of the proceeds going to The Center on Halsted (Chicago's new gay/lesbian community center now under construction).
