Northalsted Market Days now open in Boystown

Chicago, IL - Northalsted Market Days, the Midwest's largest outdoor street fest, kicked off this morning on Halsted St. in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood. The event continues today until 10 p.m. and runs through 10 p.m. Sunday.



The 30th annual event opened this morning at 11 a.m. to sunshine and mild temperatures. Party cloudy skies with highs near 85 degrees is forecast for the weekend by The Weather Channel.

More than 100,000 people from across the country are expected to converge on Halsted Street in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood to enjoy non-stop music and an eclectic mix of over 400 vendors.

Non-stop music and an eclectic mix of over 400 vendors are in the mix. Among the 40-plus performers on four music stages will be Darren Criss, who plays openly-gay Blaine on Glee, Gloria Gaynor, Lisa Lisa, Prince Poppycock, Eric Himan and local favorites 16 Candles and Dot Dot Dot.



The 24-year-old Criss and his band will perform at 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the Rivers Casino Stage at Addison and Halsted.

Another big draw are the food vendors with offerings that promise something for every taste.

Market Days, which spans six city blocks between Belmont Avenue and Addison along Halsted St., today through 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The stages will be set-up at Belmont Ave., Roscoe, Aldine and Addison.
