United States District Judge Donald Middlebrooks has refused to stop hand recounts happening in several Florida counties. A lawsuit had been brought before the Miami court by representatives of the Bush/Cheney presidential campaign.
``While I share a desire for finality, I do not believe it is served'' by involving a federal court, he said after hearing arguments from lawyers representing George W. Bush and Vice President Al Gore.
Representatives of the Bush/Cheney campaign said they plan to appeal the judge’s decision to a higher Federal court in Atlanta.
