‘Savage U’ finds Dan Savage giving love and sex advice to college kids

Sex advice columnist and creator of the "It Gets Better" anti bullying campaign, Dan Savage, is coming to MTV with a new show called "Savage U."

The show will follow Savage as he travels across the country taking personal questions from students while on tour of college campuses.

"He could be our Dr. Drew," Janollari said MTV's head of programming David Janollari of Savage and the new show. "He's able to do is bring incredible frankness to the topic of sexuality and spin it with a great sense of humor."

According to Savage's Facebook page, MTV cameras have already been following him around the country while speaking at colleges.

The 46-year-old Chicago native has been offering frank, forthright and funny discussions on sex and relationships in his weekly syndicated Savage Love column for 20 years now.

Last fall, Savage and his husband, Terry Miller, created the "It Gets Better" movement to offer hope and encouragement to gay teens after a rash of gay teen suicides.

Since starting, "It Gets Better" has received over 10,000 video submissions, including entries from President Obama, Anne Hathaway, Ellen DeGeneres, Ke$ha, Sarah Silverman and more.

Savage has also released a new book, "It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living." (Read Jerry Nunn's interview with Savage)

The ten-episode deal was brokered by Octagon Entertainment and will be produced by Picture This Television.
