Movie producer and gay author Perry Moore dies

New York City - Perry Moore, a noted gay author and the executive producer of the Narnia movie series, died in New York City last week.

Moore, 39, was found unresponsive in his Greenwich apartment by his partner, Hunter Hill, on Thursday. He died later at a hospital.



Moore's father told the New York Daily News that Moore had suffered from excruciating back pain and had been taking oxycontin. A cause of death has not been released.

Aside from the financially successful Narnia series, Moore was also the author of a novel about a gay superhero, "Hero." That 2007 book, which focused on the adventures of a teenager named Thom Creed, who was challenged by his superpowers as well as his sexual orientation.

"Hero" won a Lambda award in 2008.
