Golden 'Glee' Globes: Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch win

Sun. January 16, 2011

Hollywood - It was a good night for Glee at the 68th Golden Globes.

The FOX show won in the "Best Television Comedy Series" category. And Chris Colfer ("Kurt Hummel") and Chicago-native Jane Lynch ("Coach Sue Sylvester") picked up acting awards.

Colfer thanked the "amazing kids that watch our show and the kids that our show celebrates who are constantly told 'No' by the people in their environments, by bullies at school, that they can't be who they are or have what they want because of who they are, well, screw that, kids."

Lynch thanked her spouse, Dr. Lara Embry, for her support.

British comedian Ricky Gervais hosted the show broadcast on NBC. He left the crowd reeling as he made fun of the Church of Scientology while referring to the films that had not made the cut this year.

Referring to the film I Love You Phillip Morris starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, Gervais said it was about "two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay."

Gervais then joked: "Sort of the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists then."

The audience responded with a collective gasp.

"My lawyers helped me with the wording of that joke," he responded.
