Court rules Rahm can stay on ballot

Tue. January 4, 2011

Chicago, IL - Cook County Court Judge Mark J. Ballard ruled today that Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel may remain on the ballot for the upcoming February 22, 2011 election.

The decision comes from a hearing today where objectors had hoped the Court would overturn a decision of last month by the Chicago Board of Elections that Emanuel met the criteria for candidacy.

Objectors have vowed to appeal the decision to the Illinois Supreme Court.
