For the third time in just six weeks, the Broadway smash Wicked has grossed over $2 million during its eight performances last week at the Gershwin Theatre in New York.
The musical, now in its eight year on Broadway, has won a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards.
In addition to the Broadway production, Wicked has 7 productions worldwide including touring productions in North America and Australia.
The North American productions in Chicago and Indianapolis also broke box office records. The production in Chicago grossed $1,726,476 in the week ending Jan. 2, 2011, bringing the musical's one-week North American box office gross to over $5 million.
Wicked has been seen by an estimated 26 million people worldwide in its 7-year history.
Wicked is performed at the Gershwin Theatre, 222 West 51st Street, in New York. The North American productions are currently performed at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 Randolph, in Chicago; Indianapolis; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
